Honors, Awards & Grants

Honors, Awards & Grants

HPHC Honor Roll

The Harvard Pilgrim Honor Roll highlights physician groups that demonstrate a sustained commitment to providing exceptionally high quality care to HPHC members. MACIPA was named to HPHC’s 2017, 2018, and 2019 Honor Roll in recognition of excellence in clinical quality and performance.

MACIPA was selected to the Honor Roll based on clinical performance measured against national standards set by HEDIS® (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set), a tool developed for the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) to assess clinical performance.

HPHC Grant

In 2018, MACIPA was awarded a Quality Grant from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. The grant is titled, “Promoting Advance Care Planning activities through Technology (EMR) and Provider Training across the Continuum of Care”

This award will support MACIPA’s ability to spread the Serious Illness Conversation Initiative, a protocol created by Atul Gawande, to more practices, both primary and specialty. MACIPA will focus on making sure conversations are documented in such a way that all providers who interact with patients with serious illness will be able to see each other’s “Values and Goals” notes and thus align their care in accordance with patient wishes.

In 2016 and 2017, MACIPA was awarded a Population Management grant from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. The grant is titled “Building Upon Early Success: Expanding a Pilot in Population Health Management to Target Additional Chronic Diseases.” With this project, MACIPA has been able to expand its integrated multidisciplinary team approach to manage patients with multiple chronic diseases (e.g. Diabetes). Cardiovascular Disease (uncontrolled hypertension) was added in 2016, and Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in 2017. This grant allowed for the expansion of the Systematic Case Review Team to add a cardiologist and a pulmonologist in addition to the permanent members, which include psychiatry, endocrinology, social work and pharmacy.

Wellness Grant

Get Up & MoveMACIPA entered into a seed-funding program working in collaboration with the MA Department of Public Health, Health Resources in Action and Advancing Wellness. This is funded by the Prevention and Wellness Trust offered to Massachusetts businesses that have a desire to implement a Worksite Wellness Program. MACIPA’s “Get UP & Move” Wellness Campaign, which began in April of 2017 introduced the following interventions to promote increased physical activity throughout our work day:

  • Sit for 60, Move for 3 Policy
  • Use of On-Site Gym / Lunch time Yoga
  • Wellness Professional / Personal Trainer

Certification From MA Health Policy Commission

The HPC designed a program to accelerate care delivery transformation in MA and to promote a high quality, efficient health care system. To earn this Accountable Care Organization Certification, MACIPA demonstrated support of patient centered care, use of data to drive quality improvement, investment in population health, and provision of coordinated and accountable care. MACIPA was the first physician organization in the commonwealth to be certified on a voluntary basis.
